Tiger Woods practices with a Nike putter, again!
At the last tournament Tiger Woods played across the pond, the 2010 British Open, he surprised a lot of golf fans by using a Nike Method 001 putter instead of the trusty Scotty Cameron he'd used to win 13 of his major championships. Woods explained that he'd always had trouble putting on slow greens, and he felt that the Nike putter would help him handle to greens at St. Andrews more effectively.
The experiment lasted three days, and Woods switched back to the Scotty Cameron putter for the final round.
This week at Celtic Manor, as he and his teammates prepare to defend the Ryder Cup, Woods has been spotted not only using his heel-toe weighted Scotty Cameron putter (left in photo), but also a Nike Method 003 putter, a mid-size mallet.
We'll have to wait and see which putter makes its way into Woods's bag on Friday.

Tips on Buying a Custom Golf Cart
Buying a custom golf cart does not have to be overly expensive or terribly time consuming. The simple truth is it is much easier now to find all types of utility vehicles than it was just a few years ago, and that is true with finding a custom golf cart as well.
One aspect to finding a custom golf cart today that is somewhat different than it was in the past has to do with the level of customization. In the old days, you only had a few options and few brand names to choose from. All of these vehicles back then were pretty high dollar and they often were affordable only to the well off. Today, you can find all levels of customization, as well as many different price ranges.
You can better understand this by thinking of the low budget custom golf cart. It is entirely possible to find a high quality vehicle that has a few added accessories at a price that will fit most budgets and then add on to the vehicle.
For example, you can take a basic model vehicle, add some new wheel covers or seat covers, and have a totally different looking vehicle. And you can do this for a lot less money than you might image.
Because of advances in manufacturing technologies you can find all kinds of body styles today which was practically impossible to do in the past. These body styles run from traditional two-passenger, open air bodies to four-passenger enclosed bodies. And, again, because of modern advances in manufacturing the prices for these bodies is substantially lower than they were a few years ago.
Another way to get that custom golf cart is to buy a basic, standard model and add accessories as time and money allow. You might be amazed at how many online outlets offer accessories from steering wheels to bag covers and everything in between. This is a fantastic way to add onto your vehicle while keeping to a budget. Many of the items that most users want can found online and many of these items can be found at discounted prices. This is where comparison shopping comes in handy, and the Internet makes that kind of shopping fast and easy.
Of course you can still buy your custom golf cart complete, right off the dealer floor or through an online vendor. If your budget allows, this is probably the best way to go, especially if you are not handy with tools and would find adding your own accessories to your vehicle a challenge. When you buy new, you also get the added comfort of having a warranty on the product, and for many people that added security is very important.
In conclusion, finding that perfect custom golf cart to fit your needs and budget is a lot easier to do today than it was in the past. Use the Internet to help you locate the best deals. You will be very happy that you did.
Used Golf Carts - What to Look For When Buying Your Own
If you're in the market for a used golf cart there are several things you should consider before making your purchase. Used golf carts are generally less expensive than new ones, but they also carry more risk for the buyer. So while you may be able to save yourself some cash, you'll also want to do your due diligence to make sure you're really getting your money's worth.
The first thing you should consider is how old the golf cart is. This will help you determine how much it has been driven. You can figure out the year by looking at the serial number. If the serial number is missing then you may want to think twice about your purchase. Aside from the possibility that it's been stolen or in an accident, you could also be dealing with a dishonest seller who is not disclosing all the facts.
The next thing to consider is location. Many golf courses and country clubs update their fleets every few years, which means there are plenty of used golf carts for sale at any given time. While golfers may not always treat rented golf carts with as much care as they would their own, most golf courses have a crew that makes sure that the carts maintain good working order. Consider which region the used golf cart is coming from so you can make an educated guess as to how much it's been driven. For instance, sunny California has a much longer golfing season than the dreary Upper North West.
Another thing to consider is the accessories that come with the cart. If you're buying a custom used golf cart then it may be accessorized with such things as custom golf cart rims, an in-dash radio, or mounted cooling fans. If this is the case, then you'll probably be paying more than if it were a bare-bones golf cart. If you are purchasing the cart from another state then you will want a written statement detailing all the accessories that are included before it is shipped.
Price is probably the biggest issue when it comes to making a big purchase. Generally speaking, you can find a good used golf cart anywhere in the range of $2,000 to $4,000 USD; or more if it's been customized. If it's much less than $2,000 then it may need some significant repairs, and the repairs may cost you more than the money you saved on the purchase. But of course, this is just a general guide-line. If you shop around long enough you may be able to land yourself a nice deal.
It is also a good idea to test drive the golf cart if you are able to do so. Just like test driving a normal vehicle, this will help you get a feel for it. Pay attention to how it handles and the type of power it's got, and consider if it'll be sufficient for your needs. If you'll be driving up steep grades or hauling heavy loads then make sure the cart can handle it.
Determining the type of condition the used cart is in will help give you confidence that you're getting a good deal. Used golf carts are usually advertised as "As Is" or "Reconditioned." If you purchase "As Is" then you are getting the cart as it is, without any type of inspection. This can save you some money but it also means you'll be getting whatever problems the golf cart may already have. But, if you are mechanically inclined, you may be able to do the necessary repairs yourself, and save some money in the process.
If you'd rather play it safe then you'll probably want to buy "Reconditioned." This means that the seller has done a thorough inspection and repaired any problems that the golf cart may have had. While you'll probably pay a little more, reconditioned carts often come with a limited warranty or guarantee. A 30 to 90 day limited warranty from the date of sale is fairly common when buying a reconditioned golf cart. Just be sure to ask the dealer.

Tips on Customizing Your Golf Cart
Are you tired of looking at your boring golf cart every time you play golf? Don't you wish you could spice it up a bit and give it some character? Customizing golf carts isn't really a new concept among golfers, but it's getting more and more popular these days thanks to the help of the internet. If you're thinking of a way to give your golf cart a makeover, keep in mind these tips on how you can proceed with it.
The most common form of customizing your golf cart is by having it completely repainted. Most golf carts come in bright colors of yellow, green, and blue, but if you're not satisfied with the feel of plain colors, you can have them repainted in different colors and have elaborate designs. If you want to have an idea on what designs to put in your golf cart, you can inquire from tattoo artists. They have really great and loud designs or images that would look great on your cart.
Do you still think having your golf cart repainted is still too tame for your taste? Another way you can have it customized is y having it modeled after their favorite car model. I've seen golf carts that look like vintage Chevys or or Mustangs. I've even seen one look like a really classy Escalade and it took me a second before I realized it wasn't a real one lightly treading on the golf course.
If you want your golf cart to be modeled after a luxury vehicle, it will require you to shell out a lot of money. You need to have the entire body of the cart replaced, not to mention the casing and the wheels. The materials used for this kind of customization are fiberglass and aluminum. It depends on your budget and your preference what materials you want to put in your custom golf carts.
What You Need to Know Before You Lift Your Golf Cart
Lifting Golf Carts has never been more popular, and with all the advancements made in this area it has never been easier! You now have a wide variety of choices when considering a golf cart lift kit. This article is designed to give you a basic introduction to golf cart modification, and to help you decide if lifting is right for you.
Lift Kits are great and tons of fun, nothing looks quite as good as a cart lifted with big tires and a awesome paint job! Lifts will also give you the clearance needed to navigate tougher terrains. However you have to consider several performance elements before lifting a cart.
Speed, torque, and gear ratio will all be affected by a lift. There are many performance golf cart parts that can drastically improve any drawbacks but please understand lifting a golf cart can be an expensive and time consuming undertaking. The quality of the products you choose will play a huge part in the performance you can expect after a lift. Lift Kits are one area that you should never cut corners on or buying lesser quality equipment.
Here are some of the basic areas you should consider before lifting your cart, if you find the benefits of a lift outweigh the cons then you will most likely love your new lift.
Along with most lifts come bigger tires. Since all carts were designed with a specified tire size to work efficiently with the gear ratio in the differential, increasing tire size will affect your carts performance in several ways:
When you increase the overall height of your tires you may gain a little top-end speed when on flat ground, due to larger tires rolling further with each revolution. More strain is put on your motor or engine to move the larger tires the same amount of rotations it was moving the smaller tires. When climbing inclines or carrying loads your engine or motor has to work harderthr even with standard size tires. The larger the tire the more work for the cart. More work combined with the strain to rotate the larger tires will greatly reduce your climbing speed and load carrying torque.
Safety is probably the biggest area to consider with any cart modification no matter how small. A lift will not only raise your cart it will raise your center of gravity as well. Your driving habits will need to be adjusted in response, the chances of rolling or flipping a cart increase with any lift or whenever the center of gravity is raised. You will no longer be able to take turns as fast a you normally do and you will need to use caution on hilly terrain.
One of the biggest benefits you will gain from a lift is that in raising the center of gravity your clearance is increased. Now you can navigate rough terrains you probably couldn't before!
Golf Cart Lift Kits come in several types and lift sizes depending on your make of cart. The most common lifts are spindle and drop axle. Recently long travel adjustable lifts have taken golf cart lifts to a whole new level! These truly amazing lifts allow you to be in control of your carts height and easily change it to suit your needs.
Spindle lifts are probably the easiest kits to install as well as the cheapest. Spindle lifts simply replace the factory spindles lifting the cart. Drop axle lifts replace the entire axle and can be a little more expensive and complicated to install. However a axle lift is a much stronger cleaner looking lift.
To best decide what lift is right for you here are some questions you should ask yourself:
What is the cart primarily used for? Are you bothered by your carts current limitations? Do you use the cart on a golf course or on the street? What is your budget and are you able to go over it if need be? Is hauling large loads or climbing hills important? If so are you willing to further modify your cart? Do you have the time and money to modify other components if need be?
If your cart is primarily used on a course or the street, you should either not lift it or go with an adjustable long travel kit. Golf courses do not allow aggressive tread or all terrain tires due to the damage they cause to turf. An adjustable kit will give you the freedom to drop your cart down and swap your tires when you want to play a round. All terrain tires are designed to be used both on and off road, however you will wear them down faster on pavement and the ride is not all the time pleasant. It will be up to you to decide if the time spent adjusting your lift and changing your tires out is worth it, or more trouble than it's worth. Most people who spend more time either on or off road but once in a while do the opposite benefit the most from a long travel kit.
If you spend most to all of your time off road then a more permanent lift is probably the best choice for you. It will then be more a matter of deciding between a spindle or a drop axle lift.
Drop axles are usually the best lift kits you can buy and there are several great premium manufacturer's such as Jake's or All Sports Mfg. Always invest as much as possible, as quality really makes a huge difference in a lift kit. Save up if you have to but never sacrifice quality for cost!
If you have the time and the money to invest in your cart it can become a great hobby for you and your family. You will be surprised at how one modification will lead to two or three, and if done correctly you will end up with performance mixed with style. Just always remember safety and make sure any changes you make you research completely beforehand.
Ways to Customize Your Golf Cart
If you have ever seen golf carts customized, you are aware of just how unique and truly "custom" these carts can sport. If you own a cart, you have the ability to customize it to your specifications and truly make it unique. You should be aware that many of the ways in which to customize can be accomplished on your own; you can have this made especially to your specifications.
Interestingly, most carts, a three or four wheel, gas or electric all look pretty much the same. If you engage in golfing often, you probably are aware of this fact. Other than colors of the cart, most look very similar and easy to spot as a golf cart. Since everyone is unique, customized carts began making waves and is now available in just about any state.
There are of course ways in which you can customize your own, but if you rent the cart, obviously, you cannot make permanent changes to its appearance. However, those that own their own golf cart, can customize it anyway they please. Ways to customize it yourself include painting it a unique color or taking it to a professional where they can make designs within the paint. Think of it like putting a tattoo in it.
Other customizations include adding a sound system, so you have music to listen to whenever you are in the cart. You can also make is entirely closed in, or at least have the ability to close in just in case you run into an expectant shower in the middle of the golf course. Additionally, you can change the steering wheel to anything you wish and choose something that is uniquely you.
If you have the expertise, you can change the seats entirely, or at least add seat covers for a remarkably classy look. The lights on the golf cart can also be customized, such as the break lights and the headlights. All of these parts are easily found at a golf store where they sell golf accessories. You can replace anything on it that is removable, obviously, you cannot replace the body, but you can spruce up the cart so that it makes a statement about you.
On the other hand, if you do not wish to do the customizing on your own, you can have it thoroughly customized for you. Of course, this will cost much more than doing it yourself, but will save you time. Some companies make it fully customized so that you can purchase it ready to drive off the lot.
Lastly, whichever way you plan to customize your golf cart, you have a lot of options and many ways in which to let everyone know how individualized you are by what you drive on the golf course.
Off Road Golf Carts - Factors to Consider When Customizing Golf Carts
For the extreme sports fan, owning an off road golf cart can be a great source of fun. Off road golf carts are created to bear exposure to rough and undulating terrain. Although you can simply get an off road golf cart, folks opt to get a second hand variant so they can mod it to their own needs.
There are tons of different things you can do to customize and enhance your off road golf cart. The combos are limitless and here are some common ones:
Lift kits: Lift kits are the apparatus that increases the floor height of your golf cart. With lift kits, the suspension improves, and you can retrofit your golfing cart with bigger tires. To stop serious accidents, having good suspension is a particularly critical factor when driving on off road trails. The range of lift kits out there is massive and it is an option that you must look at when modifying your golf cart.
Golf cart windows: Some golf carts do not have wind shields, and it may be a good idea to install one because windscreens for off road golf carts are crucial. It protects you from the mud and dirt churned up by your wheels as you drive. What you might do is to install a fold down windscreen, giving you the choice to variate between open air and windscreen driving.
ATV Tires: ATV tires is claimed to be the best choice for hard terrain. The tires of standard carts should not be used for off road driving, and only ATV tires are OK for such use as they are more suited for this purpose. They'll enhance your safety and make off road driving a miles better experience.
Steering wheels: This isn't that crucial but it can make driving simpler. It can also make your buggie look better and will also improve your grip while reducing the weight on your hand when driving.
High quality steering wheels go for approximately $100 and will be 13.4 inches in diameter. Two widely known off road golf cart steering wheels are the Formula One spoked replicas and the Grant simulated wooden variant.
Compared to an ATV (All Terrain Car), custom built off road golf carts is a less expensive option. You'll also be more content, knowing that your car is customized to your categorical necessities.

Customizing Golf Cart Bodies
Just like your favourite car, you can customize parts of your golf cart to fit your needs. You may even customize entire golf cart bodies to make it reflect your personality or stand out it the crowd. In fact, you can do almost anything you want to an ordinary golf cart to make it more exciting and attractive.
The most radical owners have the entire body of their carts replaced with custom panels to make it resemble their favourite automobile. The material of these panels can range from lightweight fibreglass to aluminium. Designers also offer a variety of body styles, from a '57 Chevy model to a '68 Mustang. Members of the younger generation can choose from the more contemporary designs like an Escalade or a Mercedes C-class.
One of the most popular and obvious upgrades made to golf cart bodies is a complete repaint. Golf carts usually come in shades of green or beige, and adventurous owners want to dress their carts in more flamboyant and eye-catching colors. For these purposes, you can choose from thousands of shades in both metallic and matte colors.
If repainting in a single shade is still too tame for you then you can choose to add flame designs, racing stripes, or other colourful designs for your cart. You could probably get inspiration from the artwork of tattoo artists for your cart's design.
There are a wide variety of products and accessories that you can purchase if you want to customize your golf cart bodies. Paint jobs and body re-design are just two of these choices. Just take note that customization can be quite pricey, so you have to be willing to part with considerable cash.

Customized golf clubs, customized golf balls, handcrafted (and of course customized) knitted sweater, customizing is a well-heeled man's hobby, or habit. But why stop only with these. What about a custom golf cart. Now that's an idea. You can design that old cart into a hot rod you always wanted complete with a Jacuzzi and a wine bar. Ok I'm kidding on the last part.
Custom golf carts are long in the sports ground. They have been the result (or victim) of somebody else's creativity or lack of. Some do make use of golf carts to advertise and earn a hefty deal. Some also make it a showcase of status and success. Here are the better dealers of custom golf carts who also offer personalizing services to the carts you own.

Callaway releases the Diablo Octane Drivers with Forged Composite
Callaway's latest driver, the Diablo Octane, is made with a very specific player in mind. "It's really designed for the guy who is interested in distance, distance and more distance," says Dr. Alan Hocknell, Callaway's senior vice president of research and development.
While the new 460cc Diablo Octane shares some features with its predecessor, the Diablo Edge driver—like a chemically-milled hyperbolic cup face and titanium sole plate—the biggest difference between the clubs is the use of a new material Callaway calls Forged Composite.
Created in conjunction with Callaway's new development partner, Lamborghini (yes, the Italian carmaker), Forged Composite is actually bundles of microscopically-thin carbon fibers that are randomly held together in a resin. The carbon material is heated in a precisely-made tool that has two halves. The bottom half is shaped like the driver crown, the top half is its mirror image. When the material is heated, the two halves are pressed together so the material takes the shape of the crown. (Presto! A carbon-fiber forging.)
You can actually see the Forged Composite material in windows on the crown itself. (It's the lighter gray at right, which looks like an upside down checkmark.) The weight saved using Forged Composite instead of titanium allowed designers to move more weight lower and farther from the face, which helps to lower the club's center of gravity and make it easier to get ball up in the air.
Still, the clubhead is lighter overall than previous drivers, so Callaway fitted the Diablo Octane with a 46-inch shaft instead of the standard-length of 45 1/2. The longer shaft should help golfers create more clubhead speed and power.
According to Hocknell, the Diablo Octane is eight yards longer off the tee than last season's Diablo Edge.

Callaway has also made a Tour version of the Diablo Octane. Designed for better players, the head measures 450cc and is attached to the shaft using a hosel. However, the Forged Composite in the crown is not visible in this driver, because, as Hocknell says, better players want as few visual distractions as possible.

Look for the Octane drivers to start arriving in pro shops in mid-November for $299.
